A problematic proposal to change the gun laws of Idaho has the president of the United States in a quandary. Its passage would have far-reaching implications, and he finds it hard to believe the governor of such a conservative state would support the idea. Wouldn't that be political suicide? Unless, of course, he's on the take! If that were true, he wouldn't be the first politician with sticky fingers. Elections are just days away, so the president turns to an ingenious investigative reporter to get some answers. So is chicanery involved ... or not?
About the Author:
After graduating from USC, Jim Prock served a tour of duty as a naval officer on board a destroyer in the Pacific, and in 1962, married his wife, Sue. They have three children and nine grandchildren. After a career in real estate development and investment, Jim and his wife moved from Palos Verdes Estates, California on the Pacific Coast, to Palm Desert, California in the Coachella Valley. Now in retirement, Jim’s life has taken on new meaning with a career in writing, based on his interest in geography, cultures, history and politics that stem from his foreign travels. His endeavors thus far have taken his readers to Norway, with a children’s book entitled Gnorman the Gnorwegian Gnome; to China, with Consequences: The Future Will Reveal the Past; and now to Idaho, with The Art of Chicanery.

In 1962, a young Guang Jinli travels from China to America to study economics at USC in Los Angeles where he falls in love with a Chinese-American girl. In 2017, the same Guang Jinli, now the First-ranked Vice Premier of The People's Republic of China for trade and investment policy, returns to America after a fifty-year absence. His trip includes a graduation speech at his alma mater and a meeting in Washington, D.C. with the Treasury Secretary. Once there, he's confronted by a revelation that presents a potential threat to China-United States relations and the possible destruction of his stellar career.
The most recent hundred years of the Chinese Revolution sets the stage for this unfolding story that moves from early twentieth-century China, through Los Angeles in the sixties, and on to the twenty-first century White House.
The book features a compelling, and sometimes quirky, cast of supporting characters who are cleverly interwoven with the storyline. Consequences is a book about our actions and the way they echo through history, often undecipherable until we're blessed with the perspective of elapsed time.

Often during the process of a confusing childhood, the hand you are dealt is not clear, and your path may appear obscured and divergent. This is the story of a woman who rescued her life, finding courage and strength in the simple truth.

Somewhere in the jungle was an army of ghosts who were known to attack and vanish into the landscape. They were phantoms who played heavily on the psyche of the American GI. Brian Finney would deal with them in his own way, having resigned himself to fight each battle as it came. Vietnam was the place Brian had chosen to deal with his demons, to escape them or destroy them, or in the process, destroy himself. Suicide was not his style; if he were going to die, he chose not to be remembered as one who took his own life—and if it were going to happen, he wanted it to be quick.
About the Author:
Salvatore DiVita studied at California State University, Los Angeles, and holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees. He has taught literature and writing and has authored numerous newspaper articles. This is Sal's second novel, his first being Living in the Mouth of the Wolf, based on a true story. (See below.)

Did you ever wonder what it might be like to be a big queen? Maybe you visualize gorgeous gowns, chests bulging with jewels, and fawning admirers. That sounds dreamy, but for the real scoop just ask Marie Antoinette, one of the biggest queens ever. She can tell you that the glitz is the first thing to go. This is the story about a queen who failed royally at fulfilling the expectations of her subjects. But it is also the story of a woman who triumphed over the unrelenting forces aimed at destroying her and her family. It can only be the saga of Marie Antoinette.
About the Author:
Vinny Stoppia, a native from the Big Apple, survived sixteen years of parochial education. He worked for twenty-three years at United Nations Headquarters observing the political luminaries of the Cold War Era. For more than fifty years, Vinny gobbled up anything about eighteenth century France—in particular, the singular Queen of France, Marie Antoinette. His narrative about the life of this lightning-rod monarch is the culmination of a life-long passion to retell her story.
Vinny resides in Palm Springs, California. In his free time, Vinny enriches his life by volunteering for several organizations. He has scant time to misbehave in the desert paradise because his dog, Teddy, keeps him on a tight leash.

On June 22, 1941, German troops, without declaration of war, crossed the Polish-Soviet border, disregarding the non-aggression pact between the Soviet Union and the German government. Nina was nine years old. She evacuated her home in Talinn, Estonia and fled to her grandmother's house in Ukraine. Nina's father stayed in Estonia with his military unit. Two months later, the Germans occupied all of Ukraine. What followed was a struggle for survival. There were no jobs. There was no electricity. Radios and newspapers were prohibited. All social, postal and medical services were discontinued. Schools, shops, and movies were closed. Each member of Nina's family, including Nina, had to work hard to survive--not knowing if Nina's father was alive, dead, or wounded.

Antonio’s story started many years before his birth at a time when political turmoil brewed over much of the world. It was a time when many countries were still licking the wounds they had encountered from the First World War, a war which many believed would end all wars. But while some sought the everlasting peace they had hoped for, others were occupied developing a personal agenda of power and conquest, creating an atmosphere of political chaos by which Antonio and many youngsters like him would be cheated out of their childhood and adolescence. In many ways, Antonio is the personification of Italy and the many Italians who suffered under the tyranny of Fascism or died as a consequence of it.
